Haydn Creation

Date: Saturday 17 November 2018

Time: 1.00 pm - 9.00 pm

Venue: Holy Apostles, Cheltenham, GL52 6HW

Performance: 7.30pm

Holy Apostles Church, Cheltenham, GL52 6HW

Enjoy an opportunity to sing and perform with Musica Vera at the popular Come and Sing event, led by our Director of Music, David Dewar.

This year we will be singing the Haydn Creation, a unique, exciting, and lyrical work. With its focus on the Genesis story, the Creation is justifiably popular and is a firm favourite for choirs everywhere. When the inaugural Voice for Hospices national simultaneous concert took place in 1991, this was the chosen work.

The oratorio contains some of the composer’s most sublime music, of which the Heavens are Telling is familiar to most music lovers.

Our Come and Sing events are friendly and welcoming. They offer the opportunity to share a day of wonderful music making, learn more about the choir, and sample some of Musica Vera's hospitality!  Loan scores will be available.

There will be a performance at 7.30pm. Entry is free but a suggested donation of £5 would be welcome

From Byrd and Tallis to Mascagni, Mendelssohn and Elgar, the ever more closely-knit nations of Western Europe have produced music which not only reflects their own identities but their close intellectual relationships, too.   A glorious celebration of musical culture!  Booking will shortly be available, please check back on this site. 2019 : Choral Workshop
Venue and time t.b.a

During the afternoon coaching on ensemble and singing styles for particular periods and schools of choral music will feature. We will also devise and perform (to ourselves) a work using a technique called 'Soundpainting'.

Though this event is for members of Musica Vera in particular, interested non-members are very welcome to come and take part. We intend that the event will be welcoming, fun, and stimulating.
